Compass Scuba

Where will your azimuth take you next?

~ az.i·muth ~

In short, the horizontal angle or direction of a compass bearing that guides us from one point to another.

My azimuth continues to take me on a journey that is sometimes predictable but admittedly, more often not. Spontaneous by nature, I am ok with the latter. Regardless of where we have been or where we will go, we have arrived here together and I want to thank you in advance for taking time to look around this new site and more importantly, for being a small part of my journey.

I am in the process of updating this site with the hopes of further bringing together those in our local marine environment community that share a passion for Scuba Diving, learning and seeking ways to contribute to the advocacy and conservation of our fragile marine ecosystems and to highlight resources that might be of interest to you.  To that end, please be patient while I add, edit and continue to build this site  - it is definitely a work in progress - and your suggestions and feedback are greatly encouraged and appreciated!

There is no secret that the underwater world is in peril and the greatest threat to these fragile environments is -us-.  This site is not intended to point blame or shame you into action.  Simply, my goal is to encourage conversation, awareness, passion and create opportunities to learn, travel and promote camaraderie with the hope that each of us becomes Ambassadors of the under water world, collectively doing our part to influence change.

Whether above or below water, a commitment to make a difference just might reverse the destructive tides that are jeopardizing our worlds precious marine ecosystems.  Join me as I share my passion for diving through conversation, education and the eyes of my lens.  I invite you to join me as I continue my under water journey to explore a world little known to most, fully appreciated by a select few and so vitally important to our planets survival.

Personalized Training Sessions

You have many choices when it comes to training.  At Compass Scuba, we have no desire to compete with  local dive shops for your business.  Instead, the majority of our students come by referral and we customize training to individuals, small groups and families wanting a more personalized experience based on their busy schedule.  With access to several area pools, a healthy rental line and equipment to support nearly any PADI course, we are ready and prepared to answer questions you may have and start building a plan that supports your scuba certification goals or simply wanting to refresh those perishable dive skills.

Personalized Travel Services

I have spent my life travelling the world in search of the perfect adventure.  What I have found is each adventure offers it's own unique experience and to label any as perfect would be nearly impossible - so much more to see and experience.  The people, geography, culture, food and planned and unplanned experiences all contribute to create memorable moments for myself, family and friends alike.  I have carved out a niche that is intimately personalized to the client and combines diving with a taste of local culture.  Join me as I continue my journey exploring the underwater world!

Continued Education & Getting Involved

I have found divers and land lovers are thirsty to learn more about our fragile water eco-systems.  For instance, programs that promote conservation, responsible eco-tourism and events that highlight the rich marine life and curious creatures that call the underwater world home.  Sadly, yet necessarily, a good number of these presentations are focused on the negative impacts of climate change, trash, pollution, fertilization and fishing to mention a few.  Through a variety of local, state, national and international programs, we can all benefit from learning, increased awareness and seeking ways to getting involved.

A true dive professional.  Mike's classes are well planned, professional and tailored.  As a busy professional, I greatly appreciated Mike's flexibility and positive attitude throughout the course.  Would not hesitate to recommend Mike and Compass Scuba for your next training.

What an amazing experience!  Mike hosted our group of 21, planned several fun days of snorkeling and diving, time at a deserted beach and an amazing catamaran sunset/dinner cruise.  Hands down one of our families best vacations ever.  Looking forward to next year already!

Scuba diving a year ago - Hell No! Today, certified as a PADI Rescue Diver with a logbook quickly filling up. Mike's passion for diving and travel is contagious.  His knowledge, patience, experience and positive approach has opened up a whole new world of adventure for me!
